My friends and I are starting a business designing sports gear and clothing. Our latest product is a backpack that doesn’t flop around while you’re on the move i.e. mountain biking, trail running, adventure racing, etc. We are operating on a “shoestring” budget and are now looking for cheap creative ways to market our pack. i suggest making a myspace page to do it. get a million friends and then post lots of bullitins to get the word out.put pics on your page.im no sure if it legal or not but im sure you could find out.
Quick fast, give it to an adult sports team- like fast pitch softball men! Those guys are serious players “weekend warriors” with a real paycheck to pay their way around the USA to play ball!
Put your name on the back of a fall soccer team of give a local kids group shirt to wear to school with their logo and you name &number.
Put your name and number on everything and you can write it all off as marketing!

Throw some up on ebay. That costs about nothing and you don’t have to sell at wholesale to a retailer, just at low retail.
Send some to the outdoor magazines Outside Backpacker, etc as a demo (they get to keep it). They see a ton of really good stuff, but maybe they’ll write it up.
Get a good website up. Look at other suppliers sites and what looks good and grabs your attention, makes you want to buy THEIR stuff. Maybe take a community college course in web design or read a few books to avoid paying a web deisgner.
Look at “company history” webpages of the current big names (Northface, Patagonia, etc). See how they started. The exact same approaches won’t apply, but you may find inspiration and cautions there.
