mountain bike gear Mountain Biking pain in the ball of my foot?
when I am climing on my mountain bike my toes go numb and I get a sharp pain in the ball of my foot, I have loosen my shoes, moved my clips forward and back. Any other suggestion, it hurts most during long sustained climbs. It’s my right foot if thats any help

See working elephant displays, intermingle with the elephants and observe them bathing in the Ping River.

Elephants are engaging, creatures with their protruding, multi-functional trunks used for lifting heavy objects, stretching for food high up in the trees, and even as a power shower to give themselves and each other a washing down. Elephants can alter the shower pressure accordingly as well! Want a tropical rain shower? No problem. Just spray less. Want a powerful fire-hydrant style sluice down? No worries, just blast away! But beware. When it comes to an elephant power shower, staying dry as an innocent looker-on is not surefire!

Mother elephants and baby elephants have a exceptional rapport. It’s just way too cute to see them relate with each other as the mother elephants try to sluice their infants and the baby elephants just want to play. Well, it’s virtually the same as humans except that their bathtub is rather larger than ours. Everyone loves elephants and to be able to gawk at them in their environment is not only a photo opportuntiy but an experience that you’ll be recalling for the rest of your life.

Hmong Pha Mieng, Lahu, Lisu and Akkha Villages
Hugging extreme ridges and bragging spectacular mountain views is the tiny, isolated Hmong Pha Mieng village. Follow the trail a little further and the Lahu village Kup Kap appears. Swimming, embroidery, watching and maybe even assisting with some organic gardening, are just among some of the day by day life activities that you’ll most likely get to experience as you hang out with the hill tribes people. Ethnic Tribes and their Villages in Northern Thailand
In the west, we have grown accustomed to expecting a particular standard of comfort from our houses; natural light, appliances and several conveniences. Whilst you go along the mountain biking trails of Northern Thailand you see in the Hill Tribes people an alternative way of life; a pastoral lifestyle governed by old traditions and customs which is far less complicated than our own.

Erected on wooden stilts, plain verandahs spill into one main communal area with a wood stove generally situated at the back of the room that has Bamboo walls, a rattan floor, thatched roof and handmade interior decorations and curios. There is no architectural cloning nor prefabricating up here and no two villages are the same. Instead each hill tribe village has a certain uniqueness inspired and inherited through generations of customs and heritage.

For the majority of the hill tribes people of Northern Thailand survival is at a subsistence level; they cultivate what they eat with little surplus to sell. They are opportunisits though and only a few years ago poppies were a popular cash crop! These little horrors have now been replaced by flower cultivation of a less toxic kind, tea, coffee and other products as a result of a project inspired by the King of Thailand. Hill Tribes people also utilise long-established skills to produce cultural handicrafts which for sale. While some Thailand tours unsympathetically descend on select hill tribes villages in their droves, the mountain biking Chiang Mai tour wins again by being able to follow remote mountain bike trails in our quest for authenticity and responsible travel.

I need help with shoes for biking?

mountain bike gear I need help with shoes for biking?
I’ve broke 4 shoelaces since the start of year mountain biking. I need to find a pair of shoes that I can wear mountain biking, without laces. Vans and converse slipons seem a bit flimsy, any other suggestions. Right now I have been wearing skate shoes without laces, and I tried Doc Martens but the laces broke two fast. Now they don’t have shoelaces. Any suggestions, I’ve trying tucking the laces in, and double knotting, yet trail side branches, and rubbing next to the gears and chain, break them quickly. Anyone else with this problem?

Do road biking shoes have 2 screws?

I just bought a road bike and it came with pedals and cleats. The cleats use 2 screws side by side to mount to shoes. I was told these would work with any “bike” shoes. So I bought some road biking shoes only to find out that the shoes have 3 screw holes speard out in triangle shape. If I try to attach cleats only 1 of the screws would fit.
So my questions are,
Are there road biking shoes with the 2 side by side screws, or is this only available in mountain bike shoes?
Will it work to just use the 1 screw in the middle screw hole, or would that mess up my pedal stroke?

Hey all, I go biking at Glen Tress fairly regularly these days and I’m needing a new pair of shoes for the bike. I have decent pedals, pretty strong and very grippy, the only problem is my feet sometimes come off because I have a crap pair of trainers for biking. I mostly do the rougher stuff but I also occasionally do the Freeride park as well.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I’m looking for in a pair of shoes, particularly the sole. I’m currently using a pair of running shoes (lol) and I think there are too many grooves in the shoes, but I’m not sure. Would a flatter sole be better?

Extreme sports are getting more and more popular these days. Mountain biking attracts daredevils from all over the world who like to have an “adventure sport experience”.

The term mountain biking includes many different styles. The range is from gentle types such as cross country where you ride up and down the hills, and cyclo cross, which is a combination between mountain biking and road biking, to more ‘extreme’ styles. Downhill biking is one of the more extreme types and it is also one of the most popular forms of mountain biking.

As the name implies, in downhill mountain biking you only ride down the hills. The bike and the biker get transported up to the top by a lift and then begin the thrilling ride down. What you’re aiming for is to get to the bottom of the hill as fast as possible, managing to pass all the obstacles. The situations that occur often get pretty extreme. This includes jumps that can be up to twelve meters long, dropping three meters and other kinds of rough conditions that you can find on a mountain slope.

The people that are into downhill mountain biking are those that are looking for a good challenge, that long for the adrenaline pumping experience and don’t mind a few bruises. It’s for those that like to be on the risky, thrilling side of life.

The downhill bike is heavier than other mountain bikes to be able to fit the conditions. It weighs somewhere between forty and fifty pounds so forget about pedaling uphill once you’re out there. Once you’ve begun your race, there’s only one way to go and that’s down. The bike has to be able to put up with extreme conditions so it is equipped with front and rear suspension and heavy tubing. For the biker, it’s necessary to use full saftety gear with a proper helmet, goggles, a body suit plus knee and hand pads. You can expect to have some close contact with the dirt even if you are a professional downhill biker.

There are many ways to improve you skills, the most important one is of course to practice, and then to practice a bit more and a bit more. There are loads of books, DVDs and internet sites where people can watch stunts being performed by professionals sharing their tricks and ideas. This is also a great way to learn, and something you can bring with you once your actually out on the hillside. The only way to fully master it though, is to learn by the experience.

Even though downhill mountain biking is somewhat a risky sport, it’s well worth to go for it, being able to give you an experience out of the ordinary, both fun and exciting.

Going clipless. Got some crank bros candy SL pedals. Now i need a good pair of shoes to go with them. Cheap. I read reviews that say good walking shoe or good commuter. I want a good Mtn shoe. i deal in dirt and rocks and roots. Any suggestions?
