Google bike shops + your zip, any bike that is sold by those shops will be a good bike to own. The more important thing it to know what size you need. Measure your actual inseam from you crotch to the floor and use 59% of that for a bike frame. I would check the local ebay and Craig’s list for bikes, pawn shops usually overcharge for used bikes. Police auctions are also a great place to pick up a bike for cheap.

Well, first pawn shops might not be the best place to look. They ask to much for bikes from what I’ve seen.
Might look for a bike like the Specialized Hardrock:

New it’s almost $400, but I found one new that was just a previous years model, so like a 2008/2009, for just under $300.

Again ya its more than what your wanting to spend, but look for bikes like these that are a year or two old. What you might have to do is just go to every bike shop around, and just look for sales or year-old model bikes and you might be able to find something under $300, they’re out there, just gotta look!

But it doesn’t say what size it is.. Only thing you gotta worry about buying online is knowing what size you need. Actually that one is a 17″ I think, and its a bit older, like maybe around a 2003.
Anyway, brands I’d say are good are Specialized, Kona, and Trek, those are the more common bikes, very good quality, I have a older Specialized bike and a Kona, both are really nice.
